Strategies to control skin miniaturisation must address the true function of the skin cells to modulate water flux. In response to this challenge, Arch Personal Care Products is excited to announce the development of DermaFlux®, an innovative, natural active designed to regulate the ability to channel moisture to the areas where it is needed most. This effect is achieved via up-regulation of the key water-channelling protein called Aquaporin-3.  

DermaFlux® also controls water balance within the cellular membrane due to the presence of three key osmolytes and a sugar.  In vitro studies were performed on human keratinocytes, whereby the cells were exposed to a dehydrated state, and measured to determine their ability to maintain their ‘size’ or hold moisture under these aggressive conditions.

The results, both in appearance and quantification, confirm with statistical significance that a 1% treatment of DermaFlux® keeps cells plump with moisture when compared to untreated control cells during the dehydrated state. 

In vivo, Raman Confocal Spectroscopy, used to evaluate deep moisture in the skin, demonstrates that a 2% treatment of DermaFlux® enhances miniaturisation when compared to a glycerine control. DermaFlux® responds to the demands of a changing environment by regulating skin’s moisture by helping it hold on to vital water even under the most demanding, dry conditions.

Recommended use level is 1 – 5%.
