Training Programs for the Cosmetic Industry
John Knowlton, C.Chem., MRSC, Dip. Cos. Sci. (GB)

After graduating with an Honours Degree in Chemistry, John entered the cosmetic industry with Johnson & Johnson in 1984, becoming Principle Scientist, Southern Europe, by 1994. In 1995, John joined Justine (Pty) Ltd in Johannesburg, South Africa, as Research Director, with overall responsibility for Research & Development, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs.

Following the acquisition of Justine by AVON Inc. in 1996, John was appointed as Vice President, Research & Development, where he was responsible for the management and development of all Research & Development & Quality Assurance activities within the newly formed Justine- AVON (Pty) Ltd.

John left Justine-AVON (Pty) Limited in 1998 to start his own business, Cosmetic Solutions, specialising in a wide range of consultancy services to the cosmetic industry. During his career John has presented many papers and training sessions internationally and is now considered to be one of South Africa's best and most entertaining speakers in the discipline of cosmetic science.
